Possibility of outage for some users: DNS Changes 7-8/7-9

Postby Dhaiul » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:04 am

I am moving the domain to a new IP space in the near future to facilitate additional security for the forums.

DNS TTLs have been trimmed to lower downtime however some ISPs set limits on how low a cached zones TTL can be set.
I apologize in advance if your ISP is one of these as there is a possibility of downtime while the DNS zone propagates to the new IP space.

Please rest assured "WE ARE NOT GOING OFFLINE" nor shutting down this will be a sporadic outage and not all users will be affected.

This should be completed. Please post any issues with the new authentication method.

Thank you

Had to clear cookies in order to be able to log back in. Kept saying I'm logged in, but then failing.

.... Yeah, that. >.>

As a general note now that SSL has been enabled you may need to clear previous cache and cookies as the cookie name has been changed for this site. Delete all cookies with the lonestarfurs.org name as they will need to be replaced with the current enabled cookie hash.

If you are having to repeatedly login and are not actually able to see anymore more than the three public sections Board updates and info, What can we do to make this BBS better?, and Rules; This is for you especially.

PS this is in a Public forum so you should be checking this thread if having issues :3

Had the same problem with my Dell Axim x30...clearing cookies fixed it.

I havent deleted people since beginning of april, and they were users who had not logged in in 3 months and had 0 posts total.
There should be no missing posts or users with any posts other than the one recent banned user.

I've deleted cookies (in both IE8 and FF) and am able to get in with Firefox, but IE8 lets me enter my login information, shows me the 'You have been sucessfully logged in' page...then kicks me back to where it wants my login information.

Works fine with Firefox, which is my workaround, but the cookies trick doesn't seem to do it for IE8 for some reason! Anything I may be missing?

One that is against the ToS/rules https://www.lonestarfurs.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=22 :P (i'm fairly lax on this rule unless you are trolling with the second account.)

That aside what was the other username? i see 4 total accounts registered from your IP still active.
